Spring has arrived and who says spring, says desire for freshness and renewal. Now is the perfect time to give your home a facelift by doing the famous “spring cleaning”. But while we're at it, why not take the opportunity to breathe new life into your space by adding a few touches of more summery decoration? In this article, I offer you some tips to help you accomplish this double mission with ease!

Start at the beginning: The big clean-up

Before diving into decorating, it is essential to do a good cleaning. Open the windows to let your house breathe, then put on your favorite playlist and off you go!

  • Get rid of the clutter. Over time we accumulate a lot of things, whether it's clothes that are damaged or that we no longer wear or even items that we no longer remembered having. So, now is the perfect time to sort through your belongings. One method that I find particularly effective is to group everything into three categories: keep, donate and throw away/recycle. You could also add a sell category and take advantage of it to save some money!

  • Time for cleaning. It's time to change/clean your entrance mat, cleaning windows, vacuuming behind furniture that hasn't been moved for a long time, and mopping floors. Pay special attention to places often forgotten like baseboards, cabinet tops and door handles for example. This is also a good time to clean the inside of your refrigerator and oven. Don’t hesitate to make a list and separate tasks!

  • Refresh textiles. Wash your curtains, cushion covers and rugs to restore their shine and freshness. Take the opportunity to put away winter textiles and bring out those in brighter, lighter colors.

Let your creativity speak: Spring decoration

Once your home is clean and tidy, it's time to focus on decorating to welcome the spring season in style:

  • Focus on colors: Spring is synonymous with bright colors. Introduce touches of yellow, green, pink or blue into your decoration through cushions, illustrations or small decorative objects. No need to repaint or change your entire decor, simple little touches here and there will be enough.

  • Bring nature indoors: There's nothing like plants to bring a spring vibe to your home. Opt for easy-care indoor plants like succulents, ferns or flowering plants to bring a touch of greenery to your interior.

  • Change your seasonal decoration: For example, replace your winter-scented candles with new ones with fresh scents and if you have them, change your floral arrangements or dried herbs in the center of your tables and shelves.

If you didn't want to spend on new decorations, but still wanted a little change, you could simply move the furniture or, if you like DIY, you could change some of your furniture yourself. decoration!

So! Now you have all my stuff. Above all, don't let yourself be discouraged by all there is to do. If I can give you one last piece of advice, it would be to take it step by step, that is to say one piece at a time or one task at a time, you will see that it will seem much less bad to you to this way!
